Students of Sound will perform at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the Turner gazebo, Route 117, as part of the “Music for Mavis” series. Students of Sound comprises a group of musicians sharing and inspiring each other in spontaneous harmonies with elements of blues, rock-and-roll, gospel, fun and reggae. Members of the band are: Doug Morgan, leader, on guitar (who has played with members of the Grateful Dead and Bob Marley and the Wailers); Amanda Lynn Callabec, singer; Denise Dorsett, vocalist from St. Thomas; Mike Ryan on drums; Matt Chouinard on bass; and Phil Hammett, wailing on sax; and possibly more friends adding their musical talents. Musicians are paid by passing the hat. The suggested donation is $5. Any donation gratefully appreciated. Bring a chair or a a blanket for seating.
