Students, staff cited by legion

SOUTH PARIS — Members of the Anderson – Staples Post 112, American Legion, presented certificates of appreciation and recognized two graduating seniors for their senior project on April 15 at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Seniors Matt Witham and Evan Richards’ project involved fundraising to help sponsor delegates in the American Legion Boys and Girls State programs. They organized and held a spaghetti dinner at the legion post in Oxford, along with a bottle drive.

Witham, a Boys State alumni, was motivated by his experience as a delegate. The post also thanked Principal Ted Moccia and his staff for being actively involved in the Boys and Girls State programs.

Buffy Nason, of the guidance office, was also surprised and given a certificate of appreciation for her 25 years working with potential candidates in the Boys and Girls State programs.
