Summer course registration is open

AUBURN – Registration is open for summer courses at Central Maine Community College. The college will offer two sessions: one beginning on May 15, the other on July 10.

“Taking courses in the summer is a great way to get a head start on college – whether you plan to attend CM or another institution,” said CM Dean of Student Charles Collins, noting that most CM courses transfer to other colleges and universities.

“It’s also a chance to pick up some credits if you’re already working on a degree at our college or somewhere else – or if you simply want to take a course that interests you,” he said.

Courses will include career and technical subjects as well as arts and sciences offerings. Career and technical courses are available in business (including accounting and business and computer applications), computer technology, education, electromechanical technology and machine tool technology.

A course in worksite evaluation will be offered by the Occupational Health and Safety Department over the Internet.

Arts and sciences courses will include microbiology, economics, history, humanities, mathematics, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology and speech, as well as three levels of writing courses.

Courses will be offered during the day or in the evening; several will also be offered at the Western Maine University and Community College Center. Some courses have prerequisites.
