DEAR SUN SPOTS: The United New Auburn Association announces the beginning of the summer season of Cruiz Nites, starting June 3 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. every Friday night, weather permitting, at the Rolly’s Diner parking lot on Mill Street in New Auburn until Sept. 9.
We encourage the public to come and enjoy the cars and trucks, stock or customized, from 1900 to the present day that will be on display. Come out and meet the owners or make new friends for a fun-filled summer evening. There will be music from the 1950s, ’60s and early ’70s, door prizes, food and soft beverages.
There is no admission charge. For more information, please call Leroy at 577-2694 or me at 786-9116 during normal business hours. — Stephen J. Martelli, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The first annual Newfoundland Day will be held at the Black Bear Cafe (Route 302) in Naples on Friday, June 3, from 6 to 11 p.m.
This will be a fun-filled event complete with Newfoundland cuisine, screeching-in ceremony and giveaways. It will bring people together who are from Newfoundland as well as lots of local Maine people.
Come and meet Newfoundlanders and find out more about that beautiful province. Irish and Newfoundland music by the Squid Jiggers. No cover charge. No reservations needed. Call me for more information. — Daphne Izer, 240-3788, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The River Valley Animal Advocates will be having a plant sale on June 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. It will be held in the parking lot on the right side of Rowe’s Afternoon Delite (toward the Peru-Mexico bridge) in Mexico. We will also have baked goods and a raffle table. All proceeds will go to our spay/neuter funds for 2011. We hope to be able to double our last years total of 79 cats spayed/neutered and given rabies shots in 2011.
We had great success with the rescue of abandoned cats in Peru that we last wrote to Sun Spots about. With help from the former owner, we took all five cats from the site. They have all been fixed, and three have gone to wonderful forever homes! Thanks very much for your column. — Becky McDonald, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association will once again hold its annual yard sale on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We are looking for donations (no clothing or computers). If anyone is willing to donate to our cause, we would be willing to pick up within a 20-mile radius of Farmington.
We are in the process of building a shared-use kitchen (commercial kitchen) for entrepreneurs, educators and anyone who is interested in producing value-added products or food for the benefit of sale purposes or for their own use. Please call me at 773-3808 or Elena Barker at 778-4349.
Sun Spots has been so gracious in helping us with our advertising efforts. Thank you. — Cynthia Kemble, Farmington, [email protected]
