Summer internship available at Bethel Historical Society


BETHEL — Randall H. Bennett, executive director of the Bethel Historical Society, has announced that the society will again sponsor a summer intern program in history for Gould Academy and Telstar Regional High School students.

The purpose of the program is to provide historical education experiences for students in grades nine to 12. Among the experiences student interns may participate in are period house museum interpretation, historical walking tours around Bethel Hill, exhibit research and preparation, assisting with special events and programming activities and working with collection management projects.

The opportunity is designed to provide valuable public history experiences and insights into local and regional history. Applications may be downloaded from the society’s website,, or may be picked up at the guidance offices of the respective schools.

Applications should be received at the society’s office at 10 Broad St. by Friday, June 11. A panel of present and former educators will review all applications and make a recommendation to the executive director. The internship will run from July 1 to Aug. 31. A $1,000 stipend is available to the successful applicant. Any questions about the internship should be directed to 824-2908.
