Summer registration open at L/A


LEWISTON – Registration is open for a number of summer session courses at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

Many classes will begin the week of May 15 and meet twice weekly through June 30. A number of other courses will begin the first week in July and continue to Aug. 18. Other special course offerings are on a one- or three-week schedule.

Openings in the following undergraduate courses: “College Writing,” “Intro to Literature,” “Creative Writing,” “Critical Thinking,” “American Government,” “Anthropology,” “Basic Photography,” “Public Speaking,” “Human Growth and Development,” “General Psychology II,” “Microcomputer Applications” and “Introduction to Chemistry.”

A number of graduate courses for teachers will be offered through USM’s College of Education and Human Development and the Professional Development Center.

The classes, most of which are delivered in one-week sessions meeting in July or August, include the following: “Language Testing and Assessment,” “Problems in Literacy Assessment,” “Critical and Creative Thinking,” “Content-Based Curriculum for ESL,” “Best Practices in Adolescent Literacy, “Instructional Strategies and Materials for Elementary Classrooms,” “Science Content for Elementary Teachers” and “College in Maine: The Aspirations Trail.”
