NEWRY — A young girl who fell off a ski lift and a man who suffered a head injury in a terrain park on Saturday at Sunday River Ski Resort were both airlifted to a Lewiston hospital, resort spokeswoman Darcy Liberty said Saturday.
She said that at 11:30 a.m., an 8-year-old girl injured a leg and her back after she skier fell off a chair on Lift No. 9 near the bottom terminal. The 46-year-old man fell at 3:30 p.m. in the Starlight Terrain Park and lost consciousness, Liberty said.
Both incidents happened on Whitecap Mountain. PACE Ambulance transported both to Bethel Regional Airport where they were picked up by LifeFlight medical helicopter and flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Liberty said.
Per company policy, Liberty declined to identify the injured pair and she did not know where either lives.
