NORTH TURNER – The smell of chicken grilling should be spreading across the village on Saturday, July 28, when the North Turner Presbyterian Church puts on its “Welcome Back to Bear Pond” supper.
The congregation decided on a chicken barbecue this year because they thought it might be a fun change. Along with the barbecued chicken, some favorites, all homemade, will be offered, including potato salad, coleslaw, fruit salad, homebaked bread and desserts.
Supper will begin at 5 p.m. and free will donations will be accepted.
The congregation also reminds everyone that the church will have its annual yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Goodwin Well and Water on Route 4.
For pick-up, call 225-3370 or 224-7913.
This is the largest fundraiser the church holds each year.
Activities so far this year include the annual Mud Supper in late March.
The Heifer Project, as represented by that Ark on the front lawn, is coming along.
Four of 10 windows have been filled and a fifth is close.
Each window represents $500 toward the $5,000 goal.
Anyone wishing to contribute is asked to contact either of the above two numbers.
The congregation welcomes anyone who would like to visit on Sundays at 9 a.m.
The Clothing Center will reopen in early July each Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
It has been closed due to work on the floor and chimney.
It is a source for good used clothing for a very small price and is available to the public.
In case of emergency, the center is open by appointment.
More details are available by calling the Turner Town Office.
