Suspect in Shaw’s fatal stabbing does not enter plea

ALFRED — A man charged with killing a 59-year-old Saco woman in a supermarket did not enter a plea during his first court appearance.

Thirty-one-year-old Connor MacCalister, also of Saco, said nothing and showed little emotion during the brief appearance at York County Superior Court in Alfred. State police say MacCalister fatally stabbed Wendy Boudreau at a Shaw’s supermarket in Saco on Wednesday.

The judge also did not set bail in the case. Defense attorney Robert LeBrasseur says the next step is for the case to go to a grand jury.

Police say there is no indication Boudreau and MacCalister knew each other. MacCalister is charged with murder.

A court affidavit says MacCalister confessed to the slaying. The affidavit says the attack came after weeks of planning.
