BUCKFIELD — The Western Maine Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will host a walking tour of SWOAM’s newest acquisition from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21.
Mike Auger, director of Land Protection and Stewardship at the Androscoggin Land Trust, will lead a tour through the 173-acre woodlot recently dedicated to Everett Towle, former SWOAM president for eight years.
The forest will be used to highlight forestry management techniques that improve both wildlife habitat and forest health. The Androscoggin Land Trust holds a conservation easement on the Everett Towle Forest and conserves approximately 600 acres in the Jersey Bog Area.
Directions to the site are: At routes 117 and 124 in Buckfield, take the Bryant Road for about one mile. Take a right onto East Buckfield Road. Keep right about one-quarter mile from the intersection onto Bear Pond Road. Look for parking and signs. Parking will be on Androscoggin Land Trust property, adjacent to the Everett Towle Forest.
Everyone is welcome to participate in this forestry tour. Contact Merle Ring at 441-3276 or email@example.com for further information.
