Taisto F. Wuori


FARMINGTON – Taisto F. “Ty” Wuori, 86, of Jay, died Sunday, Jan. 7, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Buckfield, the son of Eli M. and Ida (Koivisto) Wuori.

He recieved his education in South Paris schools and in 1959, married Pearl Burnham.

He was employed at Bryant Brothers’ Garage, the town of Jay, and later at B&E Enterprises of Jay.

In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family in the summer at camp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking pictures of all of his family members with his Polaroid camera.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pearl, of Jay; a daughter, Marie Hatfield, and her husband, Peter, of Winthrop; three sons, Stanley Wuori, and his companion, Sharon Poulin, of Chesterville, Terry Wuori, and his wife, Nancy, of Islesboro and Wayne Wuori, and his wife, Lana, of Utah; two stepsons, Henry Bryant, and his companion, Jackie Fournier, of Jay and Blaine Bryant, and his wife, Merilee, of Westbrook; 15 grandchildren, Lewis Wuori, Juli Millett, Heidi Conant, Gina Mitchell, Tara Gallagher, Kris Hatfield, Darren Hatfield, Marja Hatfield, Katie Wuori, Tracey Wuori, Erik Wuori, Jessica Wuori, Olan Wuori, Steffan Wuori and James Bryant; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Armos and Tauno.
