I’m 84 and a retired small businessman, born and still living in Rumford. My town has seen the ups and downs of the mill and it’s time to make sure that the mill continues to invest in equipment. With other mills in the state struggling to compete in the world, we need to do everything we can to encourage the Rumford mill to continue to invest.
When I ran my business, I was successful when the mill was running in high gear. Small businesses are often dependent on the bigger businesses in a region that employ the people. Rumford needs jobs for the younger generation and we can only retain the mill jobs if it invests in new equipment for the future.
It’s time to get rid of the personal property tax. Let’s take a stand for jobs.
