AUBURN — Area Scrabble fans are invited to help raise money for Literacy Volunteers by playing their favorite board game in the 12th annual Letters for Literacy Scrabble Fest, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at the Hilton Garden Inn Riverwatch.
It will be Scrabble with an unusual twist, as the competition features teams of four collaborating over the same letter tray to try and out-score another four-person team.
To participate, players bring a minimum of $10 each in pledges, but the goal is to raise as much money as possible for Literacy Volunteers. An array of prizes, such as original artwork, a handmade quilt, and a custom made Scrabble board will be awarded to the top fundraisers.
Door prizes, raffles, word games and refreshments will be a part of the event. To join, form a four-person team and choose a team name, register in the pro or social level of competition by Monday, April 12, and collect pledges for Literacy Volunteers.
More information and registration forms may be downloaded at www.literacyvolunteersandro.org or call Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin at 333-6601, ext. 1321.
