The show also features Jake Simon and local favorite Bill Picard. Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets cost $14 at the door, $12 with a reservation. Murphy has played top clubs from New York to Boston, and built a reputation as one of the Northeast’s consistently funny comedy acts while developing into one of Boston’s new headliners. An astute observer of the ridiculous in human nature, he was chosen by Comedy Central to be a semi-finalist in the “Boston Laugh Riots” and has also been a semifinalist in the Boston Comedy Festival. His Vermont upbringing helped him form his unique perspective, which blends with an on-stage friendliness to make him a hit with all audiences.
First identified as a rising star by the Boston Globe, Amy Tee has become one of the busiest comedians on the New England scene. Her surprising observations and illuminating presence have scored points with mainstream and alternative audience from Los Angeles to Provincetown, whether she’s performing in world-famous comedy clubs, theaters, or lesser-known holes-in-the-wall. Her takes on life as a “lesbian in the mainstream” are delivered with a quiet style that belies its edgy content, leading the audience to laughter and nods of agreement. She is a regular performer at the Boston Comedy Festival, and audio clips of her performances there have been played on XM Satellite Radio.
Picard, who has cerebral palsy, is a humorous inspirational speaker as well as being a (sometimes) R-rated comedian with wickedly funny jokes about relationships, sex, and the unusual questions people ask him. He finished third at the 15th annual “Portland’s Funniest Professional” contest, and has also performed at Boston’s Comedy Connection. This is his fifth appearance at the Fireside.
Simon is a newcomer to Boston comedy.
