Teen slightly hurt in Durham crash

DURHAM – Two drivers escaped apparent injury in a crash on old Brunswick Road early Thursday evening.

Maine State Police Trooper Ricci Cote said a 17-year-old woman from Cumberland, whose name he declined to release, was driving south when she lost control of her car on a patch of ice after the crest of a hill near Wires Hill Road. Her car collided with a northbound truck operated by Jenna McGahey-Glenn of 272 Old Brunswick Road.

Both were checked at the scene for injuries by Durham Fire and Rescue workers, and the teen was found to have a swollen lip.

Both were wearing seat belts.

Speed may have been a factor in the accident, Cote said, but neither alcohol nor drugs was involved. No charge has been made.

Damage was estimated at $6,000 to McGahey-Glenn’s 2007 Toyota pickup and $4,000 to the teen’s 1989 Ford.

Both vehicles in the 5:27 p.m. crash were towed.
