Teen snowboarder suffers possible head injury

NEWRY – Slightly more than an hour after Sunday River Ski Resort closed for the day Saturday, a Med-Care Ambulance crew was sent there to tend to a 14-year-old boy who may have suffered a head injury while snowboarding.

At about 5:15 p.m., resort spokesman Alex Kaufman said he didn’t yet have any details about the incident, which was reported after the resort closed at 3:45 p.m.

Kaufman still could not release any information regarding the incident on Sunday.

“This is a busy holiday weekend for us, and we usually see several injuries on the mountain,” he said. “But none of the injuries over the past few days have been serious.”
