AUBURN – A teen anime drawing workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Auburn Public Library.

Jay Fiori, resident anime artist, will present the three-hour workshop. He will go into detail with anime art techniques and there will be a discussion about manga in general, including characters and plot. Teens can bring their own art.

Door prizes and refreshments will be available. Call 333-6640, ext. 4, for more information or to reserve a spot. An established anime club meets twice a month. Check Auburn Public Library’s Web site at www.auburnpubliclibrary.org for dates and times.

Chicken pie sale

NEW GLOUCESTER – A chicken pie sale will be held at Sabbathday Lake Grange on Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22, to raise money for camperships to the Maine Conservation School. It will be co-sponsored by Androscoggin Pomona Grange and Sabbathday Lake Grange.

Pies, which will be sold for $7 each or two for $12, can be pre-ordered by calling Pam Dyer at 657-4612 or Glenys Ryder at 783-6897. Pick-up will be at the hall from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday July 21, from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, July 22, or at another time by special arrangement. The pies freeze well.

OES to meet

WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, installed the chaplain, Edward Webber, at the June meeting. Worthy Patron Stanton Leighton was the installing officer and the installing marshal was Betty Perkins, PM, Pine Cone Chapter.

Lakeside will honor past matrons and past patrons on Tuesday, July 10. The chapter has also invited the honorary members. Past Grand Patron Gordon Benner has accepted the invitation, as have several others.

The meeting will be held at the Wales Grange/Masonic Hall on Centre Road at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All members are welcome.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club held the District 25 game on June 25 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Local winners in Flight A were: first, Shirley West and Patricia Smith; second, Fred Letourneau and Jeanine Kivus; third, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; fourth, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn.

Flight B local winners were: first, Shirley West and Patricia Smith; second, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; third, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; fourth, Nancy Lindgren and Linda Leotsakos.

Flight C winners were: first, Mary Leahey and Helen Little; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds. A regular game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the center.

The club also held a District 25 game on July 26 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A and B were: tied at first, Michael and Patricia Quinn with Jim Flanagan and Martine Begert; third, Richard Allen and Richard Balian; fourth, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau. Winners in Flight C were: first, Richard Allen and Richard Balian; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.

There will be no game on Wednesday. The next game at Schooner Estates will be at 6:30 p.m. on July 11. A partner is guaranteed at both games. For more information, call Lucille Theriault at 783-0431.

There were 95 tables in play at the Tuesday District 25 game. Overall winners in Flight A were: sixth, Shirley West and Patricia Smith; Flight B, third, Shirley West and Patricia Smith.

There were 66 tables in play at the Wednesday District 25 game. Overall winners in Flight C were: third, Richard Allen and Richard Balian; fourth, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau; fifth, Ron and Connie Reynolds.
