Teens to face theft charges

LIVERMORE FALLS – Police arrested two Livermore Falls teenagers on charges of theft after they allegedly stole an all-terrain vehicle, a dirt bike and a Mongoose bicycle.

The ATV and bicycle were taken from two separate residences at Hunton Loop and the motorized dirt bike was taken from Park Street, all on Monday, officer Joe Sage said Thursday.

Police officer Maurice Drouin conducted an investigation and enlisted the help of Dixfield police to recover the stolen items from an East Dixfield residence on Tuesday night, Sage said.

The boys allegedly pushed the dirt bike and ATV away from the residences and out of earshot before starting them up and driving them to one of their homes, he said.

Then they had parents transport all of the stolen items, which the parents didn’t know were stolen, to a friend’s house in East Dixfield, Sage said.

They told parents the items belonged to a friend, he said.

Both boys had a charge of theft by unauthorized taking.

Their ages were not available Thursday.

One of the teens was taken to a juvenile detention center in South Portland because he had a prior charge, Sage said.

The other boy was conditionally released to parents, he said.
