LEWISTON — Have you ever wondered what it would be like to change a book? To make all the unfortunate events happier and far less painful?
“Grimm, Interrupted,” written by Lewiston High School senior Veronica Beaudoin and directed by fellow senior David Carvalho, does just that.
It’s the story of two teenagers, Emma (played by Melissa Brimigion) and Jack (Ryan Dubois), who find themselves locked inside “Grimm’s Fairy Tales,” where they take it upon themselves to prevent the characters from meeting gruesome fates.
They meet such Grimm character as the Witch (Marina Belanger), Cinderella (Zan Wong), Cinderella’s Prince (Justin Roundy), Gretal (Meghann Bilodeau), the King (Chris Belanger) and an out-of-place cross-dresser (Jacob Lapierre). They also meet characters whose personalities are rather expected, such as the ditsy Snow White (Amy Yeung) and garrulous Little Red Riding Hood (Brittany Martin).
All the while, the Grimm Brothers themselves, Wilhelm (Christopher Murch) and Jacob (Patrick Caldwell), journey through their stories in hopes of discovering who has rewritten the characters’ fates.
“Grimm, Interrupted” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Geiger Elementary School, 601 College St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.
