Tennis net damaged at EL

AUBURN — Police are investigating a case of criminal mischief after someone knocked over items at Edward Little High School’s picnic area and cut the ties that held the school’s tennis court net to its posts.

Auburn Lt. Paul Labarre said the damage occurred sometime Thursday night. He said the net will likely cost $50 to $100 to repair. Because the net is also held up by wires, it is still usable until it can be repaired. The picnic area items that were knocked over were not damaged, Superintendent Tom Morrill said.

The area is monitored by cameras and that footage will likely be reviewed, Morrill said.

He called the damage “disappointing,” but said the tennis courts are not often the subject of vandalism. Graffiti in Auburn has been more of problem, he said.
