Titcomb Mountain delays opening

FARMINGTON – It’s the second week of January and local ski area Titcomb Mountain cannot open because the weather is still far too balmy for skiing.

In a Tuesday news release, Titcomb officials announced the mountain’s opening would be postponed until weather or snow conditions improve.

A few inches of snow fell Sunday night and Monday morning, but most of it washed away during a subsequent rainstorm.

After-school lessons given by Nana Webber and Bill Koch will be postponed by a week.

The fate of races scheduled for this weekend and the Saturday, Jan. 13, Ski and Snowboard School are still to be determined, the release stated.
