STRATTON — New England Celtic Arts, in conjunction with Music New Brunswick, will present Tomato/Tomato at Route 27 Arts, 88 Main St., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.
New England Celtic Arts, Music New Brunswick and the Maine Arts Commission have been working over the past several years to engage in the exchange of performing artists. In 2014 a highly successful collaboration called “Songs Beyond Borders” was presented throughout the state and in New Brunswick at the Acadian World Congress. This year Tomato/Tomato was selected to do the honors.
Tomato/Tomato is comprised of husband and wife team John and Lisa McLaggan. This quirky two-some perform a mix of old-time bluegrass, roots and folk music. Their dynamic live performances feature John on vocals and guitar and Lisa on vocals, washboard, bass drum and tambourine. The duo’s unique sound, strong vocal harmonies, and colorful original music have quickly made them one of the most sought-after acts in southern New Brunswick. They have just released their debut album, “So It Goes,” a strong set of originals that embodies their signature sound and intelligent writing.
Tickets for this event cost $15. Reservations are strongly suggested. For more information, call 207-264-2300 or visit www.necelticarts.com.
