TOPSHAM – The seventh-annual Save Our Swinging Bridge 5K is scheduled for Sunday, April 18 at 10 a.m. in Topsham’s Lower Village and Brunswick’s Downtown. Past efforts helped restore the 118-year old Roebling-built bridge. Donations and continued support like the annual 5K race ensure that it keeps swinging from now far into the future.
The registration fee will go directly to the maintenance fund for the bridge. Prizes will be awarded directly after the results are tallied. Top finishers three deep men and women overall will receive awards, including gift baskets containing merchandise and gift certificates from local businesses. Restaurant gift certificates will be awarded to the first-place finishers within each age group for men and women. Placement certificates will be awarded to male and female finishers three-deep to each age group category.
Volunteers are needed on race day on race course, at the registration table, and for other tasks. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up to volunteer.
Advance registration is $18. The fee increases to $20 after April 9. Register online at www.saveourbridge.org or www.active.com or at the Recreation Department in both Brunswick and Topsham. Participants are asked to gather in front of the Red Mill on Bowdoin Mill Island, 1 Main Street, Topsham, no later than 9:30 a.m. on race day.
