TOPSHAM — Wind Over Wings, Cathance River Education Alliance and the Topsham Public Library are joining together to co-sponsor a special debut event.

Wind Over Wings: The Debut of Bald Eagle Lady Grace will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the library.

This bald eagle, with a serious injury to her wing, has been cared for by Wind Over Wings for two years, and she’s ready to step up onto founder Hope Douglas’ arm to meet people.

The event will also feature Lady Grace’s namesake, 92-year old Grace Rowe, and the diverse support team who have come together to rescue and care for the injured eagle. Featured also will be golden eagle Sky and two smaller live owls, the Eastern screech and tiny saw-whet.

The alliance Community Nature Programs are free, family friendly and held the last Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the library, 25 Foreside Road.

“The bald eagle has made a remarkable comeback from near extinction due to DDT and habitat loss; but people have brought them back. These amazing birds are true survivors. Lady Grace’s story is one of strength, courage, and trust,” said Douglas.
