In touch with community

I am writing in support of Libby Mitchell to be the next Democratic nominee for governor.

Serving with her in the Legislature, I saw firsthand how she led one of the toughest and most productive legislative sessions in Maine history. In the face of a daunting budget deficit, she led the Legislature to complete a balanced budget on time, while protecting the vulnerable, fighting to preserve education funding and investing in jobs and energy.

She has the distinction of being Maine’s first female speaker of the House and is now president of the Senate.

She understands how important Lewiston-Auburn will be in this primary. From bean suppers in New Auburn to walking the streets of Lewiston, she is in touch with what is going on in our communities.

It is time to elect the first women, with experience, to be governor of Maine.
