Trooper slightly injured in auto accident

A state trooper sustained minor cuts and bruises when his cruiser collided with another vehicle on Sunday afternoon, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Trooper Jonathan Leach was injured after his cruiser struck a car that was leaving the parking lot of the Litchfield Sportsman’s Club.  The other vehicle was driven by 81-year-old Edward Brown of Durham.  The driver and the passengers of the vehicle were not injured, according to the release.

State Police say that Brown’s car drove from the parking lot into the path of the cruiser at 5 p.m. The cruiser struck Brown’s car in the side. Both cars were demolished.  The cruiser was an unmarked 2007 Ford Crown Victoria, and Brown was driving a 1997 Mercury Sable.
