BRUNSWICK – Senior captain Dena Miller scored three times to lead the Tufts women’s lacrosse team to a 9-8 win in women’s college lacrosse action Tuesday.

The Jumbos (6-0) held a 4-3 edge at intermission. The squads traded goals to open the second frame before a 4-0 spurt pushed the Tufts lead to 9-5 with 16:02 to go.

Four different players scored in the run, which was capped by a Courtney Thomas goal off a feed from Sarah Williams.

The Polar Bears (7-1) answered with a three-goal run, keyed by a Bobbi Dennison goal with 7:12 to play that closed the gap to a single goal at 9-8. But Tufts netminder Gillian Kline proved up to the task, making several strong saves down the stretch to seal the win. Stephanie Collins-Finn seven saves for Bowdoin, while Kline also stopped seven for the Jumbos.

Bridget Keating and Kate Donoghue scored two goals apiece for the Polar Bears, while Dennison racked a goal and two assists. Tufts got a pair of scores from Lauren Murphy.
