Turner Adult Ed lists upcoming classes


TURNER — SAD 52 Adult & Community Education is offering classes beginning the week of Feb. 10. There are many old favorites back along with several brand new offerings.

Wire Wrapped Jewelry: Learn four wire wrapped jewelry techniques including ear wires and post earrings, chain links, bead links, fancy clasps, wrap drilled pendants, looped bead connectors and wrapped rings. No experience necessary.

Tumbling: Tiny Tot classes for 3 to 5 are an intro to basic mat skills in a structured and fun environment emphasizing stretching, flexibility, strength and control. The Beginner to Advanced classes are perfect for acrobats, cheerleaders, gymnasts and others ages 6-18 who wish to enhance, improve and refine their tumbling skills.

Beginner Needle Felting: Learn the fundamentals of needle felting including tips, techniques and materials. The class will make three projects together and then students will be guided to create a one-of-a-kind piece.

Exploring Microsoft Office: This in an introductory computer course that is structured to teach students the use of programs such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Basic computer skills are strongly recommended.

Zumba Fitness: Shake, shimmy and smile as you have a blast burning calories. This is for everyone, even if you have two left feet. Modification will be provided so you can work at your own pace.

Printing with Jello: Create unique one-of-a-kind prints using unflavored gelatin as a palette in this one night of family fun. Use your image for cards, artwork, bookmarks and more. Only non-toxic inks are used so kids over age 9 can join when accompanied by an adult.

Basic Pottery: Try something new in this beginner’s class and discover your creative side. Learn basic clay work techniques while making your own clay pots.

Bokwa: The new fitness craze. There’s no choreography or counting steps. Bokwa engages all ages in the same class to the same music.

Self Care Wellness Practice Ayurveda 102: Establish wellness and health while learning to combat stress and fatigue through self-massage and daily care styles based on your Dosha.

Shamanic Journeying for Beginners: A source of healing throughout the world for tens of thousands of years. Connect with your creative, intuitive and healing energy through this meditative practice.

Brick, Block and Stone: Gain a new skill in this basic masonry class. Understand plumb level and range. Learn different bonds and mortar mixes and build small walls, archways, veneer stone walls to block. Explore outside garden barbecue, driveway stone pillars and a brick or stone garden container. 

Watercolor Paint Party: Receive step-by-step watercolor instructions and take home a 5×7 original masterpiece in one night. No experience required and all supplies are included. 

Clear & Compassionate Communication: Improve the quality of your communication with family, friends and community. Learn helpful skills in non-violent communication.

Substitute Training: Discover SAD 52 school expectations, teacher’s lesson plans and assertive discipline. This course is one step in the substitute teacher application for the district. A high school diploma is required, college degree preferred.
