Two charged with home break-in

FARMINGTON – A woman was arrested Thursday night and a man Friday morning after a four-day investigation into a burglary at a home in Industry.

Late Thursday night, Franklin County Sheriff’s Cpl. Nathan Bean arrested 18-year-old Amanda E. Wilbur of Farmington and charged her with burglary.

On Friday morning, 19-year-old Christopher C. Crandall turned himself in at the Franklin County jail and was charged with the same crime.

Sheriff’s officials had been investigating the break-in on Clearwater Pond Road since Monday, when a digital camera was stolen from a home there.

Investigators said the afternoon burglary was interrupted when the homeowner returned to his residence and found Wilbur and Crandall in the building.

The pair ran off with the camera valued at $350, police said. It has not been recovered.

Sheriff’s investigators Bean and Detective David St. Laurent had been working on the case since Monday before issuing warrants for Crandall and Wilbur.

Both suspects were returned to jail Friday after failing to post bail set at $5,000 each after initial appearances in 8th District Court in Lewiston.
