FARMINGTON — Three people will vie for the Franklin County treasurer’s position during the June 8 statewide primary election. Two county residents are also challenging each other to become a county commissioner.

Those elected in November will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2011.

Seeking the treasurer’s position are two Republicans, Fred O. Smith II and Mary K. Frank, both of Farmington, and Democrat, Pam Prodan of Wilton. The seat is being vacated in December by Karen Robinson, a Republican from Wilton.

Clyde C. Barker, a Republican from Strong, and Richard M. Stoval, a Democrat from Phillips, will face off for the District 3 commissioner’s position currently held by Meldon Gilmore, a Republican, of Freeman Township.
