Ukelady hosting open mic

NORWAY – Mary Ukelady will be the guest host at the next Norway Open Mic Night on Friday, July 27, at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St. Signup for performers begins at 6:30 p.m.; open mic starts around 7. $3 donation at the door; refreshments will be provided.

Mary Ukelady is a singer-songwriter, ukulele and guitar player from western foothills of Maine. Her style is highly influenced by The Beatles and the folk music scene of the 60s and 70s. Her songs are refreshing and rhythmic with upbeat lyrics and a hopeful message. She has been seen at statewide events from arts festivals to children’s stages to night clubs, most recently at this year’s Norway Summer Festival. Her love of life and free spirit has led her on a musical quest leading up to the release of her debut CD, “Love Is Strong.” In her own words: “My musical endeavor is to help make the world a better place.”

The Norway Open Mic Night, founded in 2002 by Vessel Recordings artist Heather Pierson, is held at the historic church on the last Friday of each month. All are welcome, no performance experience is necessary.
