WILTON – The 2007-2008 Tri-Valley United Way campaign will officially kick off at the Wilton Blueberry Festival on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3 and 4. On Aug. 3 the United Way will be under the Lion’s Club tent and on Aug. 4 staff will be next to the Main Street Garage. The booth will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

In addition to promoting the new campaign, the Tri-Valley United Way will sell special “2-1-1 Meals,” consisting of two hot dogs, one bag of chips and one water, or two cookies, one hamburger and one water.

2-1-1 is a new, easy-to-remember phone number that connects people with local agencies and programs that can help them. It also helps people who want to volunteer find places that need their help.

By selling 2-1-1 meals and providing information about the program, the United Way hopes that more people will become aware of the program and will become better connected with the resources they need.

Entertainment will be provided under the Lion’s Club tent on Friday, with local musicians performing in the afternoon. Travis Pinkham will perform from noon to 1 p.m., and Sandy Waite will perform from 2 to 3 p.m.

The goal for the campaign, as approved by the board of directors, will be $395,000. For more information about the campaign or the kick-off celebration at the Wilton Blueberry Festival, contact Nancy Morgan, executive director, at 778-5048.
