FALMOUTH — The public is invited to the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Cumberland County Extension Association at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, starting at the UMaine Regional Learning Center. Volunteers from all University of Maine Cooperative Extension program areas will be honored.
Maine State Sen. Justin Alfond will speak about “Growing Maine’s Agricultural Future: Kids and Local Food” in his keynote address. Alfond has prioritized student hunger, higher education success and economic and workforce development and passed a bill to end hunger in Maine. He serves on several boards of directors, including Avesta Housing, Opportunity Maine and the New England Secondary School Consortium.
The Cumberland County Extension Association will prepare a light meal for attendees beginning at 5 p.m. prior to the meeting. For dessert, participants will enjoy the results of the annual pie bake-off.
Everyone is invited to enter the bake-off sponsored by King Arthur Flour. All recipes will become part of the UMaine Extension Cookbook.
