Some abusers are tax-payers. Donations are needed from tax-payers as well as private donors. AWAP provides services that are very much needed in Maine. I fled an abusive marriage just over 2 yrs ago. My child & I went to an AWAP shelter. The night before we went to the shelter my ex-husband tried breaking into a friends home to hurt me. AWAP gave me the tools I needs to help me stand on my own 2 feet again. The ladies of AWAP are truly ANGELS on earth.
