what socialism is?
The right - including supposedly intelligent people like Gingrich - throw the word around as though it were an epithet. It's not. It's an economic system which has merit. Actually, the US has long embraced certain aspects of socialism such as public funding for education and health care. Medicare is socialist as is Social Security. Right wingers, including Ronnie Reagan and Dubya would have destroyed both, but a majority of Americans said, "no."
I'm betting that you think socialism is political - most who listen to Faux Gnus as their only source of information do. Please make sure you now what words mean before you use them.

There is a solution to 2 problems
The Republican legislature lead by MHPC would turn the state into Arizona circa 1990 much to the distress of 21st century Mainers. On the east bank of the Kennebec there is a state owned very large vacant granite building already broken up into office size spaces.
Turn the old AMHI building into offices for legislators thereby filling a vacant piece of real estate and putting our representatives and senators close to the professional help they need when Lance brings them legislation like that Steve Mistler has written about.
The old AMHI building has the added benefit of a way to lock legislators IN lest they resist the help they need.
Lance and the guv can be sent on a one way trip to St. Helena where a 19th Century despot passed his final days.
Multiple problems solved.
