Even with a charter review,

Even with a charter review, it would not take affect till long after Gilbert would be termed out after serving his second term. So it wouldn't effect him, it would effect future mayors/councilors.

King Tom Peters circumvented

King Tom Peters circumvented the charter. What he did was illegal and for that I applaud Councilor Theriault for filing a complaint with the Maine State Bar Association. King Tom even said at the last meeting on this subject that he would find away around the mayor/charter. This is a serious violation of the law. That is unethical especially acting as a lawyer himself in the matter. The 4 members of the council that favored King Tom are just as guilty.

Robert61- Did you break the rules when you sought a legal opinion for the Peters Bros. meetings? Point is is that even if the mayor said you could make the appointments himself you would still be violating the charter and so would he. Are you going to violate the charter? I don’t think it was anything new that the mayor is the only member allowed to appoint to an ad-hoc committee? There's no grey area there.

Rinoblast- When is it OK to

Rinoblast- When is it OK to violate the charter and when is it OK not to? What's the sense in having a charter if you've just going to do whatever you want? The rules are there to be followed. Mayor Gilbert didn’t write them, Tom Peters didn’t write them yet they have to follow them. The council should follow the charter. The council still has more power in the matter, as in the end they are the only ones to vote on the hiring.

JDoucette- You make no sense. You’re just running your mouth trying to get Reed worked up. Unless you have something intelligent to say, don't say it. You’re really showing your true colors with your comments.
