The judge is not there to uphold the will of the people. He is there to uphold the Constitution. Neither interacial marriage, nor slavery, nor intergration would have passed with a popular vote. A basic course in civics would clarify this for those who do not understand.
The role of a federal judge is not to support the will of the people. His or her role is to uphold the US Constitution. An elementary course in civics would help people understand that.
"Anyone who refuses to believe what the church teaches on faith or morals puts themselves out of the church. Did this writer just excommunicate millions of faithful? Whew! No "judgment" there, huh?
Heartiest congratulations on your 60th Anniversary! One correction: the Catholic church has now spent well over HALF a million dollars fighting to overturn marriage equaltiy in Maine. "For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'" perhaps this campaign is more important?
