Years ago, I worked for Forster Manufacturing. It was one of the best places to work, and I enjoyed it immensly. I can still smell the hardwood, in my minds eye. Wood turnings was a good business to be in. They paid well for the times and it gave folks who were not going on to college, (not everyone could), a place to work and learn a trade. I learned so much there during my tenure, about the trades, about people and safety, and about manufacturing in general, and had good people to learn from. I built jigs and fixtures and made tools and cutters, and even a couple of small machines, and clip saws. I applaud you for reviving a very honerable manufacturing base, and I wish you every success. Congratulations !
I'm for green power. But these things are useless. When you ride by them and see them turning and looking fascinating, don't be fooled. They may be quiet while they're turning at around 10 or 12 revolutions per minute. And guess what.........they're not producing any power at all until they reach 16 or more revs per minute. Then they begin to hum, and whoosh. Then when the wind really blows, they can reach up to 90 dbs. You may want to wear earplugs at that noise level. Place several on a mountain range near a village, and that could be sickening. Don't believe the lies they will tell you about how quiet they are and how productive they are. Or that they will create jobs.....they won't, not for us. All they want are the dollars from the gov. grants, and the power will be sold out of state more than likely, and we will probably foot the bill for the transmission. At a time when green power is at a premium, we're taking hydro out of the loop, and why? There are ways to engineer them so that the fish don't even know they're there. Go Hydro!
You just don't get it. It's about losing rights. I have nothing against cops. It's the laws that allow their behavior. It's the laws that are causing us to lose our rights. And complacency in the communites, and among the voters, who accept them. Sorry you didn't get that.
I didn't see in the article why they were called in the first place, or by who they were called. Was it really a rifle he had, or a big stick. Those cops are dressed up in so much gear, they probably shot him because they were too hot, and going into heat exhaustion, not seeing or thinking clearly. They were so geared up that if he did shoot at them, the bullets would have bounced off! Eight times they shot him! This is an outrage! All you people who think the cops should be into every aspect of our lives, and think it's good, don't you realize your losing your rights everyday? Do you know that people are being stopped because the cops say that their air freshener hanging from the rearview is too big? Talk about your bull s--t probable cause to stop you and check you out for no other reason than to invade your privacy. And no I'm not of a guilty consience or of breaking any laws, I have nothing to hide, I just don't like the way the people are losing rights to privacy, and private property every day, and that a lot of the people accept it as a good thing. I'm sorry, I can't. And I'm sorry for this vet who was gunned down by a bunch of trigger happy cops, and later they'll all be cleared of any wrongdoing, watch and see.
Just another way for the cops to invade peoples privacy. Pretty soon they'll be doing backyard patrols too. What statistics in the Town of Wilton determined the need for this ridiculous patrol boat? You know they're only looking to make trouble, out of what's been innocently going on on the water for years........nothing but good clean fun. You'd better be on the lookout all you camp owners on the lake, for these idiots with their binoculars checking out your backyards. Just a bunch of overglorified peeping toms.
