"Now there is a reconciliation bill winding through Congress to get rid of all the sweetheart deals" This is a myth. Although a few of the sweetheart deals were removed - e.g, the Cornhusker Kickback, others remained - e.g., Louisiana Purchase.
How about some transparency on who actually wrote this article? It is interesting that the Bangor Daily News published a very similar article. So similar that that there are whole paragraphs that are identical. Either Meg Haskell (BDN) plagiarized Lindsey Tice (SJ) or vice versa. My guess is that is was ghost written by an advocacy group that fed to the news papers. I bet Meg and Lindsey did not do a lick of research. Shame on them for not disclosing. They are all for transparency except when applied to them. Same for the advocacy group that actually wrote the article. My best guess is that it was the Maine People Alliance that was so heavily quoted in the SJ version that actually wrote the “story”.
