I am a candidate for the Auburn City Councilor-At-Large
We saw the same result in both elections because nothing was done to change the dynamics. Same voters; same lack of information, same result. The only real information we were told is how much local taxes were going up. We were not told what that increase was paying for. How much was due to reduction in federal and state aid? How much was due to inflation? How much was mandated?
We don't know because the school and city officials have done a poor job informing us.
Our schools should be fighting ignorance, not contributing to it by failing to clearly and loudly articulating it's needs.

It's always difficult to find a way to accurately compare numbers. By resident? By Taxpayer? Each will tell something different; each has it's own value. You have done a great job with the information you have provided. Hopefully, it will start an informed decision about the finances in Lewiston/Auburn and finally move towards some progress that will make both fiscal and educational sense.
