There seems to be comments left by a certain person on just about every issue pertaining to Rumford in this column consistently calling our selectmen the 3 stooges and not making the right decisions for this town... I'm quite offended by your remarks in one of your posts..and I quote "Moe-Larry and Curly are proud of their achievement of selling this town out to the self-centered selfish people"... I for one voted the way I did after taking a ride up Frye stretch and seeing all those wind towers... Clean energy or not I don't want to see those things in the back drop everyday when traveling around Rumford... You make it sound like the people (the Voters) of Rumford are ignorant and are incapable of making the right decisions for this town.... The more I read your posts the more I see that if the selectmen don't do what or how you want things done they're the stooges... I guess there's a reason why your no longer a selectmen...Cause the so called ignorant voters of Rumford have spoken...
No Newpage isnt a Canadian company, chapter 11 is done so the company has time to restructure thier debt, and thier creditors cant force the company to liquidate thier assests to pay them back. Some of the largest companies in the world have filed chapter 11 including Delta arlines, GM,..It might be a good thing...Whats really gonna suck is that the town of Rumford might not be paid thier tax money from the mill, of which the mill pays more than 46 percent of the amount the town collects from all taxes... The town of Rumford has been living large for many years and has relyed on that money way to much...Our selectman have been taking for granted that the mill was going to be around for ever.. Maybe now they will wake up and smell the roses..and not throw money at everything and anybody that asks for it...Just take a ride around town, how many police cruisers do we need, check out the new explorers that are driven around by the fire chief and the DARE officer, or the jake brake equipt ladder truck...

If there are so few students to take advantage of this program like you say then where is the over crowding going to happen. Also to correct your statement about AP classes.. yes they offer AP classes but They STILL offer College coarses too and NOT at the CC like you say.. We have a tech center (at least in my district)I think in my OPINION...Your assesment of students wanting to move on with thier classmates is so Brady Bunch like. Terry, maybe you should've had the option to go 5 years of high school cause apparently you need it... The key word in the story was OPTIONAL.. He wasnt forcing kids to go to High School longer, If kids want to leave after 4 years they can.... My district already offers kids college type coarses. Speaking as a tax payer I would love it if my kids had the opportunity to get one step ahead and have college credits when they got out of high school, Id would much rather see my tax dollars going to kids getting a head start on life than it being spent on fighting law suits about a dam mural...But some kids would give thier right arm to be able to leave school with college credits and or an associates degree, have you looked at the up swing in the price of college tuition, I have cause I have 3 kids in college and next fall I will have 4. I am by no means a fan of Lepage but I think this is one of his better ideas...
Maybe now some one will enforce the no vehicles on the track rule.. just a few weeks ago there were about 100 motorcyles on it along with several vehicles.. There are always vehicles on the track, think maybe that contributes to the degrading of the track?....

On the other hand if you look at the application. it clearly states that if your an alien from another country you didnt have to fill out the rest of the application....I sat in line with...12 samolian women....all 12 were getting food stamps, heap section 8 housing AND maine care. and here I was born, lived and worked and paid taxes in this country my whole life and I dont qualify for anything.. go figure....

For the past 6 years all I saw was 3 girls running the show, they'd get the ball on the defensive side run all the way to the goal and shoot, It was the Britney 1,(and when she graduated Britney 2) Brianna, and the Tia show. Never passing, never playing as a team, if they did pass it was to each other, Now when Britney had grades problems and Brianna was hurt and neither played, well low and behold the other girls played as a team and actually won a couple games, So as for your Total team concept Rick, get real I sat in the bleachers for 6 years only to watch 3 girls play...
I have been burning pellets since 2004, when pellets were $180 a ton in New Hampshire and not very many people carried pellets. I had to travel to new Hampshire to buy mine cause those crooks did have them in maine still charged 250 a ton back then. I havent burned a drop of oil since, still at 250 a ton its still ceaper than oil for me. But I do want to ask, how can one company sell them for 300 a ton drive 1/2 a mile and some one else is selling the same pellets for 250, (delivered off the same truck), GREED.....Its not like gas where there are penny differences but 50 bucks come on now talk about price gouging...And dont tell me about shipping costs cause its the same if you buy 1 or 50 tons....you sellers down in the LA areas can keep your pellets I'll buy them from a reputable company that treats thier customers well AND hasnt gouged the prices since thier inception........
I am niether a Mountain Valley fan nor a Leavitt fan I am actually a parent of a Cape Elizabeth student so I see quite a bit of Mr Foden.. He is also A 'punk" at school all you have to do is ask ANY Cape student and it will all be the same,,In this case I can say that he is on the ballot because of his FOOTBALL STATS So Rob Kennedy do some investigating before you throw assumptions out there.. Foden should be dropped from the Ballot
hes on the ballot because of his stats I can quarantee that all 73 fans coaches and writers who do the voting have NOT actually seen him play. And no I wont get over it I have already written a letter to the powers that be. And apparently I'm not the only one because in the response letter it was said that it is being looked into cause I'm not the only one who has written....
I think that after watching the actions of Foden during the last two playoff games and previous regular season games I think his name should have been taken out of the running for the award. Unsportsmanlike actions (throwing his helmet), unsportsmanlike flags have been thrown on him 4 times this year and 4 times last year.. All you have to do is watch the replays on local access and you'll see. Even the announcer on the radio (WGAB who broadcast the games) said that Foden has a reputation of loosing his cool on the side lines and on the field when things are not going his way. It was mentioned not once but 4 times on the radio broadcast... On of the criteria's for this award is sportsmanship, If he wins I will personally protest to the MPA..
