About time. And occasional early release on bad days for storms that come in late wouldn't be so bad either. I have always gotten the excuse that they are afraid to send kids home early to a latch key situation. Well, as responsible parents, we should know the days to keep an eye out for early release and make arrangements. My single mother had to years ago. I would rather make those arrangements than to chance an accident later in the day because the roads got worse.
I have been wondering about the numbers on this vote since the original numbers were posted. The number of responses for the second half of the ballot "if you voted no" make me question it even more. Result #1 - 349 to 349 (tied), #2 - 349 to 344 (passed by 5), #3 - 348 to 344 (passed by 4), Now there's 40 votes possibly missing? And at the same time, part 2 of the ballot asked "If you voted no..." yet on the original results page on the city website there were, I believe, over 500 responses combined to either increase or decrease of the budget. If the vote passed then why were there so many more responses to part 2 than actual "no" votes. Maybe with such a close vote that is still in question, and this much controversy, they should veto the whole thing and have a new vote.
As it is seen in the article, you and your family should be proud. This is an example of how great kids can be. The family should be commended for raising such smart, level headed kids. Great job.
