Please by all means tell me when the last time was Rumford Police went to Dixfield backup. Also the reason for having the Detectives on during the day is for investigations and interviews. If you would like to get a knock on your door at 2am from a detective telling you they need to interview you regarding a case then please let the Chief know and I am sure he will see what he can do to help you out. Investigations and interviews are easier to do during the day during the week and that make for cases being solved faster. Having one officer on duty in any town is a safety issue but of course this is my own opinion.
I would be interested to know how much of a tax cut the Town of Dixfield is going to see by placing the 14 or so wind turbines on Holman Mountain. I would also like to know how much my electrical bill will be reduced by these. I think I know the answer to both questions. I live in view of the entire mountain top area where these turbines are suppose to go. If I have to look at them 24/7 then I think I should get something back.
What are you afraid of Dog? You worried that they may catch you driving your boat drunk? I think this is a great thing. Fryeburg PD patrols the Saco River with boats and have saved a number of people from flipped canoes to almost drowning. I commend the Wilton PD for taking up this task as the Maine IFW is stretched thin and can not be on all the waters at once. Again Great job. And just to let you know Dog, the police or anyone else for that matter can watch your property from the water or roads and they can even take pictures of your house, cars, or ou for that matter and there is nothing you can do...Its all legal. they can even video tape everything...ALL LEGAL. The thing is, if you don't do anything wrong, then you should not have to worry about it...Obviously you must do things that are not legal...They want to watch my house I say go ahead. At least I know at that point that me and my property are safe...Hell I say invite them in for coffee...lol
Why is it that whenever a budget needs to be cut it is always public service that has to take the hit? I bet the town manager would get real upset if the town selctman recommended on the next contract negotiation that the town manager take a $5000 a year pay cut every year for the term of his contract. Most contract are for 3 years so that is only a $15000 total cut over 3 years.
The state will not open up a coyote bounty because every hunter that sees a coyote now shoots it. Why pay out money when the coyotes are going to be shot anyway.
Northwoods: I agree that deer will feed on the broughs from trees that are cut. The cuting of deer yard is still a major problem because the trees that are being replaced will take an estimated 5 years to grow to a stage where they will be sufficiant for deer to feed on them. That it 5 years without sufficiant feed and/shelter for the deer.
I fully believe that there should be a law that says "No more then 10% of the total area where deer are known to yard may be cut". And I think that may be to much.
I am a full supporter of the snaring program. Canada allows for snaring and it is very useful in taking coyotes out of wintering areas. I do not however believe that we will ever see another snaring program in Maine as long as the state remains scared of the PETA groups and their lawsuits.

Tax Cuts or Electrical Cuts?
