Hi Sheryl. What do you mean by "requires registration through the Maine Heritage Policy Center"? Who do you mean and registration for what?
Baxter Academy is run by a non profit grassroots organization. There are no stock holders or private investors. Just a local volunteer board who seeks charitable donations to augment public funds. It would be like comparing Walmart to a soup kitchen.
Mr. Alfond and Mr. Brennan. As a fellow Democrat and as a parent of a Baxter student, I am deeply embarrassed by your willingness to spread inuendo and lies about the school for your own political gain. You are for education? Why then are you investing so much political capitol in trying to deny children the STEM-focused education they are begging for? I serve on several committees at Baxter including fund development. I hate to disappoint you, but nothing untoward or " right wing" is going on. It is simple. The school welcomes sincere offers of support from anyone who shares the vision and intention of the school. Any attempts at political gamesmanship comes from you. The good people who have volunteered countless hours to get the school up and running have one loyalty only: the kids. I never thought I'd see the day when prominent members of my own beloved party would stoop so low to become big school bullies. But that's what you've become to our kids and it is shameful. It is not always about winning at the battle of wills, Mr. Alfond. It is about listening to kids and doing our very best by them. You are welcome to come listen to the kids any time.
