My heart breaks for these kids that have been abandoned by their parents..I can't imagine having to live like that or just the fact that they mean nothing to a mother or father. I am happy to read that the girls I have read about today are strong, but they shouldn't have ever been placed in this situation...As a mother and grandmother, I have a hard time understanding the parents in these stories..I hope they get all the help they deserve and that these programs that help them continue...God bless them all!

Ok..so Maine has a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol consumption for drivers under 21...and the fact that texting is illegal should assure her a place behind bars for awhile, but I highly doubt it..this state is too lenient on these offences..maybe if someone was ever held accountable for the death of people while under the influence, it would maybe make them think before the drinking begins and the damn texting...2 kids were snuffed out in the prime of their lives because of the careless act of this girl...and I really don't care to hear about how they were just teens having a good time..that is no excuse..hope she serves a good long time behind bars so she can think about what she has done to the 2 families that have had to bury their children this week..wake up Maine and start inforcing the laws that are on the books...and after reading the other comments, I just want to add that even if she had been sober and not texting..she lost control of her car and crashed into a grove of trees and killed 2 other people...she needs to reflect on her actions and pay the price..

I have seen an e-mail going around about this same thing for well over a year and I agree that something has to be done, but I think the majority of our help goes to those never born in this country...I have seen it first hand in some of the people I know when they wanted help for an elderly mother that was unable to buy food after the bills were paid for the month..drug testing cost money and is not cheap...how about putting people to work for a weeks worth of benefits..I am sure there are plenty of jobs they could do around this state and they would be getting training to boot..many other ways than testing for the drugs

Where are the police in Lewiston??? These tents were out in the open and the damage was not done in a few minutes..It took awhile to cut down that many tents and nobody saw them?? What I don't understand is when they are given 20 year sentences, then the judge suspends 10 years of that sentence??? What is that going to do to others that commit this same kind of crime?? I don't think the brothers were right in making a complaint about this funeral home and I really don't think they knew what to expect when they wanted to veiw a body that had been dead for 3 days..they obviously didn't want to see her that badly if they couldn't make it down their for their sister..they even stated they hadn't seen her in a long time, so maybe her appearance had changed quite a bit from the last time they saw her..such a shame that they are making a big deal out of this..The funeral home did what they could, and they also were warned about the decomposition of their sister..why such a long delay in getting down to R.I...it doesn't take that long to get down there????

You are right on with your comment, that was the first thing that I thought of..too many kids think that the person at the other end of their phones can't wait a few minutes to respond...along with driver inexperience..scary thing..but the person at the other end of the phone should know if a person is driving and not be calling or texting..they are just as guilty to keep a conversation going..I never thought of it like that before, but when my daughters are driving now, I wait for them to contact me..

I love horses and the idea of kids riding them, but I think there should be more trails to ride them on. The roads are just to busy and the cars travel too fast to have horses on them. I understand the pain this girl must have felt losing her horse, which is as much a pet as any cat or dog would be, but some common sense should be used when we try to ride on public roads. The mentality of alot of these hot headed drivers that are in a hurry to get nowhere special, is good enough reason to be cautious and stay off the roads. It's good to see companies moving into the areas and offering jobs, but they need to offer jobs with wages that people can live on, and have some type of benefits along with these jobs. Not sweat shops with no benefits, and only hire part time workers because they don't want to pay out benefits, and the threat of losing your job if you can't work 60 plus hours a week if they want you to..there are too many low paying jobs in this area with no hope of getting ahead with the companies. How about an article about the wages of these companies and what they offer. Seeing that decent rents in the area go for about $700 a month and go up from there..Not everyone wants to live in poverty or in the downtown area..
I'm almost speechless..released on bail and I wonder if he will be a no show when it comes time for his sentencing. Sounds like he may have picked up a few pointers when he spent time in prison for his other conviction, however long that sentence was served by him. All around, not a nice guy!
I am also a grandmother of 2, and share my birthday with my oldest grandchild and I cannot even begin to imagine the pain this family is going through. Our hearts go out to them and wish them healing in their hearts and souls..May this little precious boy rest in everlasting peace..Our children and grandchildren are the greastest gift anyone could have, and to throw it away like it is trash is so senseless..
I work and pay taxes like everybody else..and have paid into the SS system, and every other tax you can pile on me..I don't feel entitled to anything, but I do have a heart that is open to the struggles of the poor and I am emphathetic to the needs of others. Reading the comments can be very entertaining, but I think the message is lost in the bickering...The hatred for President Obama is obvious with the comments I have read so far, but what about the article..do people want to go back and see people without insurance having to use the ER..that is where the problem is..they are treated and then fill out form after form to get the assistance for free because they have no insurance..and talk about pulling the rug out from under our seniors...fixing the donut hole is a big deal and I have not seen one bit of compassion for our aged Americans..the bottom line is Republicans what to make the profits that Obama care will take away from their profit margin ..insurances will have to dish out a certain percentage of their take for health care instead of putting it in someones pocket..the Republicans can try to do what they are threatening, but as usual will be a waste of tax payers money, cause while they sit there and argue about this they are getting payed....why don't they try to generate new jobs instead of undoing everything that has been getting fixed???? I don't see how facebook can be used as a learning tool in school...I have a facebook page and it is a way to keep in touch with people, however there is nothing much other than games ...there should be more than a block put on the computers..not hard to check up on these students. Maybe the teachers should check the computers once in awhile by walking around the classroom and randomly taking a childs computer and checking the browsing history...and log on to facebook themselves to see if the students are on that are in the classrooms..alot of these kids probably wouldn't think of going offline so they don't show like they are on FB...take the computer away if the abuse continues..no need for bullying
I agree that maybe the bedbugs would have more of a difficlut time to hide, but they hide behind headboards, cracks in walls, and any place esle ..once infested, you need to have them exterminated, then be dilligent about your cleaning habits...vacuum the floors more than once a month and change beds at least at minimum every other week..You would be surprised at the people that don't do any of this on a regular bases..and they wonder why they have bugs..
If a person has a clean home and doesn't have piles of clothes laying all over the place, then more likely than not they won't have an infestation. The media just says this so as not to insult the people, but they are not all brought in by other people. Keep your hospitals clean and hire people that really clean, not just pretend to clean, and you may be able to stop this epidemic. We have dished out enough for their care when alot of deserving people were denied benefits because every bit of monies is used up on so many undeserving. I have been reading all the comments from everyone and it is pretty sad... I came upon this accident just a minute after it happened when they were taking the two little kids to the building across the street. The look on the little boys face was so sad because he kept looking at the SUV while being carried by some gentleman. The driver of this truck had nothing to do with what happened and the type of vehicle it is. He was sitting at a light that has been there and was red. It was quite obvious when I saw the SUV that she ran into it at quite the force, and I could see the accident scene way before I got to the corner. This is not a blind corner and driver inattention was the cause, whatever that was. We will probably never know, but two precious children are without a mother. So sad :(

If people think they may have a problem with their sexual desires, then maybe they should find a job that isn't so tempting for them. There are other things he could have done, but he chose to put himself in this position. ok "tightlines" I assume you must know this young man personally and it is sad to see young people follow in the footsteps of their parents , but there comes a time when you have to stop using your childhood as an excuse to act badly. I was in the parking lot the day it happened and took a bunch of pics. The people that were in the car that crashed were standing there laughing about it. Don't know if anyone was issued a ticket, but I think they should have!!! And by the way ,the person that thought this was in Lewiston (MOM), read again. This was the flagship in Auburn and the people were just arriving for work when this happened. Too bad; some kids trying to make some extra money for the summer had to miss a days pay. I'm just glad no little kids were running in the parking lot like I sometimes see. Could have been a real tragedy!!!! Maybe they don't understand the laws around here that the rest of us have to follow.

I'm sure the no comments is because of a gag order by some smartass lawyer that struck a deal with the school..if anyone speaks out about it , it would be their job on the line...funny how the crooks get all the protection when they do something wrong, and the ones left to pick up the pieces are the ones that have to watch their backs and their mouths...It sounds to me like the loser spent money on things that didn't pertain to school, or the gift cards to teachers in those schools was used to pay them off and shut them up!!!

My heart breaks for these kids that have been abandoned by their parents..I can't imagine having to live like that or just the fact that they mean nothing to a mother or father. I am happy to read that the girls I have read about today are strong, but they shouldn't have ever been placed in this situation...As a mother and grandmother, I have a hard time understanding the parents in these stories..I hope they get all the help they deserve and that these programs that help them continue...God bless them all!

Ok..so Maine has a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol consumption for drivers under 21...and the fact that texting is illegal should assure her a place behind bars for awhile, but I highly doubt it..this state is too lenient on these offences..maybe if someone was ever held accountable for the death of people while under the influence, it would maybe make them think before the drinking begins and the damn texting...2 kids were snuffed out in the prime of their lives because of the careless act of this girl...and I really don't care to hear about how they were just teens having a good time..that is no excuse..hope she serves a good long time behind bars so she can think about what she has done to the 2 families that have had to bury their children this week..wake up Maine and start inforcing the laws that are on the books...and after reading the other comments, I just want to add that even if she had been sober and not texting..she lost control of her car and crashed into a grove of trees and killed 2 other people...she needs to reflect on her actions and pay the price..

I have seen an e-mail going around about this same thing for well over a year and I agree that something has to be done, but I think the majority of our help goes to those never born in this country...I have seen it first hand in some of the people I know when they wanted help for an elderly mother that was unable to buy food after the bills were paid for the month..drug testing cost money and is not cheap...how about putting people to work for a weeks worth of benefits..I am sure there are plenty of jobs they could do around this state and they would be getting training to boot..many other ways than testing for the drugs

I don't think the brothers were right in making a complaint about this funeral home and I really don't think they knew what to expect when they wanted to veiw a body that had been dead for 3 days..they obviously didn't want to see her that badly if they couldn't make it down their for their sister..they even stated they hadn't seen her in a long time, so maybe her appearance had changed quite a bit from the last time they saw her..such a shame that they are making a big deal out of this..The funeral home did what they could, and they also were warned about the decomposition of their sister..why such a long delay in getting down to R.I...it doesn't take that long to get down there????

I saw an e-mail sent to me just this week that showed the graphic results of texting and driving..may be jumping to conclusions, but obvious someone was not paying attention..not pointing the finger, just that this kind of thing is happening too much and young drivers think they won't ever get hurt..they'll tell you how good a driver they are and that it won't happen to them..whatever the cause, hopefully everyone recovers soon..

Should be trails for horseback riding
I love horses and the idea of kids riding them, but I think there should be more trails to ride them on. The roads are just to busy and the cars travel too fast to have horses on them. I understand the pain this girl must have felt losing her horse, which is as much a pet as any cat or dog would be, but some common sense should be used when we try to ride on public roads. The mentality of alot of these hot headed drivers that are in a hurry to get nowhere special, is good enough reason to be cautious and stay off the roads. Most just don't care about anyone but themselves..

It's good to see companies moving into the areas and offering jobs, but they need to offer jobs with wages that people can live on, and have some type of benefits along with these jobs. Not sweat shops with no benefits, and only hire part time workers because they don't want to pay out benefits, and the threat of losing your job if you can't work 60 plus hours a week if they want you to..there are too many low paying jobs in this area with no hope of getting ahead with the companies. How about an article about the wages of these companies and what they offer. Seeing that decent rents in the area go for about $700 a month and go up from there..Not everyone wants to live in poverty or in the downtown area..

I'm almost speechless..released on bail and I wonder if he will be a no show when it comes time for his sentencing. Sounds like he may have picked up a few pointers when he spent time in prison for his other conviction, however long that sentence was served by him. All around, not a nice guy!

I don't see how facebook can be used as a learning tool in school...I have a facebook page and it is a way to keep in touch with people, however there is nothing much other than games ...there should be more than a block put on the computers..not hard to check up on these students. Maybe the teachers should check the computers once in awhile by walking around the classroom and randomly taking a childs computer and checking the browsing history...and log on to facebook themselves to see if the students are on that are in the classrooms..alot of these kids probably wouldn't think of going offline so they don't show like they are on FB...take the computer away if the abuse continues..no need for bullying

And as far as the two involved in this crime, I think they should send them back to where they came from. We have dished out enough for their care when alot of deserving people were denied benefits because every bit of monies is used up on so many undeserving. I have been reading all the comments from everyone and it is pretty sad... I came upon this accident just a minute after it happened when they were taking the two little kids to the building across the street. The look on the little boys face was so sad because he kept looking at the SUV while being carried by some gentleman. The driver of this truck had nothing to do with what happened and the type of vehicle it is. He was sitting at a light that has been there and was red. It was quite obvious when I saw the SUV that she ran into it at quite the force, and I could see the accident scene way before I got to the corner. This is not a blind corner and driver inattention was the cause, whatever that was. We will probably never know, but two precious children are without a mother. So sad :(

this is so sad and a situation that could have been prevented...why was this little girl staying at a place with 3 grown men???these were not cousins that were her age and that she played with obviously!!!these men let someone place a candle too close to a bed or flamable material...did anyone check on this poor child at all or is she the victim of stupid people...sounds like the priority of the person who rented this apartment was T.V. and video games...no mater what we say in these comments, the situation will never change for these slobs...if they smoke, I am sure they had cigarettes, and if they smoke weed, I am sure they had weed, and if they drink, I am sure they had their alchohol...paying a bill to keep their power going, come on...if they do that they wouldn't be able to have their vices...the cause of this fire was a candle left burning by stupid men and they didn't bother to check on this child as they ran off like scared little babies...the blame is on them and may this child rest in peace

He was in a position of authority and misused it. You can't tell me he thought this girl, in the school he was teaching at, was old enough for what he had in mind. If people think they may have a problem with their sexual desires, then maybe they should find a job that isn't so tempting for them. There are other things he could have done, but he chose to put himself in this position. I agree that the girls of today look alot older in the way they are allowed to dress, but looking at a persons face should tell you if they look too young. Most people still in school are usually way too young and should be considered jail bait...what is wrong with this world??????oh and BIG DADDY 40 years ago that was not the marrying age..what planet are you from????I graduated 40 years ago and 15 year olds were not getting married. Angel I agree with your comment except for the welcome to Maine part. This is the way it is all over our fine country and the laws protect the criminals more than the victims!!!!!The children are clearly the victims in this sad story and yes they will be back with the slacker of a "mother", and I use the term loosely. When is society going to change these laws so it is a little harder to get your children back when the parents need to change thier ways and grow up? My Lord, she is in her 30's and not even caring for her kids!

Really now! Normal is not the direction he is taking and if you think he is right you are probably just like the rest of his so called friends who could give 2s%#ts about him. A true friend would not have told the officer he was all right, so sorry to offend you but he is heading down a path of self destruction. I'm sure when he gets the help he needs and grows up a bit his thinking will change.

ok "tightlines" I assume you must know this young man personally and it is sad to see young people follow in the footsteps of their parents , but there comes a time when you have to stop using your childhood as an excuse to act badly. This is a 22 year old man who is continuing to make bad choices and surrounding himself with people who think and act like him. He obviously needs to be held accountable for the "bad " things he has done and also needs rehab not only for his drinking but to learn another way of life and what a normal life should be. We are way to lenient on these people and they continue to offend over and over again, and nothing gets resolved. Time for a change in our laws!

I was in the parking lot the day it happened and took a bunch of pics. The people that were in the car that crashed were standing there laughing about it. Don't know if anyone was issued a ticket, but I think they should have!!! And by the way ,the person that thought this was in Lewiston (MOM), read again. This was the flagship in Auburn and the people were just arriving for work when this happened. Too bad; some kids trying to make some extra money for the summer had to miss a days pay. I'm just glad no little kids were running in the parking lot like I sometimes see. Could have been a real tragedy!!!! Maybe they don't understand the laws around here that the rest of us have to follow.
