Easy Money..

It did not take long for the budgets to go back up. How sad that the boards do not accept the vote of the people of Rumford. They keep pushing untill they get what they want. I hope the taxpayers realize that these increases will show up on there October tax bill as a 1 to 2 mill increase. This does not include the school increase.
When it is not your money it is easy to thow it around and that is what is happening. I only hope the the fine people of Rumford push back and vote these budgets down..

Vote NO

I hope the people of this Town are paying attention. This will be a $13,000 increase over last year. Watch the other departments and how they will be increased as well. The only thing that grows is the public sector. Like I have said it is easy to spend other peoples money.. You can take charge by voting NO....

Kudos Greg....There is no

Kudos Greg....There is no reason why we can't share one of those trucks. As a small Town we can no longer waste money on equipment used for training and shooting water in the River. It has always amazed me how fast town equipment needs to be replaced for the actual use it gets. And that ISO rating is a smokescreen to scare homeowners..

Just keep in mind fine people

Just keep in mind fine people of Auburn. They can and will sway any report to go in there favor. If you dig in and find out just what you are paying for, you would realize the cost to the city is huge. The benifits alone will scare you. And most of those are unfunded liabilities into the future.

This makes so much sense even

This makes so much sense even the children can understand we need to diversify our energy production. Some adults just do not seen to grasp that..

Hey Brad, You are not paying

Hey Brad, You are not paying attention. The majority of people wrote down at the poles they wanted wind development. What part of that do you not understand?

It seems to me the selectmen

It seems to me the selectmen again went againts the will of the people. The majority of comments writen at the poles showed that Rumford tax payers want wind development and some people thought, because of the lies that were spread, that voting yes meant you were voting for wind. Well the oposite was true. The people of Rumford got the wool pulled over there eyes. As far as the mill goes they have done an internal study and the demand for paper is projected to decrease by 50% in five years. Where will Rumford be then. I do not beleive granting TIFs to pizza joints is the solution..

You are correct Dennis. The

You are correct Dennis. The six years that I was on the board we had decided that every unit that was tax aquired would not be sold as to rid the town of some of its blight. Jolene obviously has a different agenda in mind. That is why it is important that boards follow the will of the voters and go by the comprehensive plan that was voted in by the town. If that happens then you will have continuity from board to board and get some things done.

Pat you are right on. Here in

Pat you are right on. Here in Rumford a small group of people have controlled the narative and created an ordinance that will not allow a single wind turbine in Rumford if passed. How sad that history keeps repeating its self here. Peter, Jim, Roger, Lee and company great job holding Rumford back one more time. Very short sighted. Please vote no on the Rumford wind ordinance. Take a stand for land owner rights.

Carlo is right. This

Carlo is right. This ordinance if voted in will not allow one single wind turbine in Rumford. This is an antiwind ordinace and sends a strong signal to any other industry that might think of coming to this area, unless of course you want to sell italians and pizza. Rumford has always been a strong supporter of land owner rights. This ordinance infringes on those rights and should be strongly voted down.
This is yet another instance where a small group of people have controled the narative and will hold this town back yet again.

So all this time Rumford has

So all this time Rumford has been for domestic violence. What a waste of money. This is the nanny state gone wild. First they take away landowner rights by putting forth a restrictive anti-wind ordinace and now this. I do not think the smart people of Rumford need to be told thru a sign that we are againts domestic violence. A little common sense please.

You know darn well if Aniel

You know darn well if Aniel is for this ordinace it will not allow a wind project in this area. This ordinace tramples on land owner rights and should be voted down. Millions of dollars for the Town of Rumford will be lost forever if this is passed. The evolving DEP standards are the best way to protect the town.

This is just another

This is just another anti-wind, anti-land owner wind ordinance. It is sad to think that the few people that have held this town back for years are doing it again. Rumford tax payers should realize that there are millions of dollars at stake here, dispite what this small goup says. We should vote this down and adopt the evolving DEP standards with local control.

We will lose landowner rights

We will lose landowner rights if this ordinance is approved by the voters. You can tell it will be totaly against the wind industry because the anti wind crowd thinks they are doing a good job. What will happen is that we will see these towers all around us from town but will not be able to reap the benefits. So the efforts of the fab five to protect the views ( and you know that's what it's all about) will have all been in vain.

Who in there right mind would

Who in there right mind would think that putting two culverts together would work. Water will work in the sides and push those things out. In reality the head of public works is responsible for this. They did not get the new cuverts engineered and they should have knowing we had this trouble last summer. And just for information there was no power line work last year. Stop passing the buck....

I still feel the town should

I still feel the town should adopt DEP standards on this issue. This third attempt will be an antiwind ordinance as well. The towns people need to realize the taxes that we will be losing because of Roger Arsenault, Peter Buotte, Jim Thibodeau and there antiwind crew. Are they willing to pay the town the $600,000.00 per year plus for twenty years? And that is on the low side. These are the very people that have there hand out wanting tax dollars for Black Mountain. As things keep changing as far as the Paper Mill is concerned we will wish we had those additional tax dollars.

This was one of the issues

This was one of the issues that I kept bringing up as a selectmen for the past six years. It was always brushed off by other board members and the Town Manager. We should have done more to bring our budgets in line so we could manage a crisis like this. If you thought the 21% tax increase was bad a few years ago watch what happens now!!!!

Did not take them long did

Did not take them long did it. The people of Rumford will have to realy pay attention to what their agenda is. The Town charter is like our constitution and should not be taken lighty or changed on a whim. Carlo of all people should remember how we fought to keep his position elected as opposed to appointed when the last charted commision was formed. They had their marching orders as well and the smart people of Rumford ruled the day and voted most of the changes down. O well let's all keep an eye out. Thanks Kevin....

Good Job Mike. They did the same in Rumford and I believe you have a couple of Rumford area guys working for you. It is amazing how much they get away with at the taxpayers expense. If you keep digging I am sure will find much more waste. The taxpayers of Auburn will thank you.

Tom, This anti wind group did

Tom, This anti wind group did a great job of spreading lies about this ordinance and wind power in general. There is also a percentage of the voters that do not want zoning of any kind in Rumford. This new board will more than likely extend the moritorium in mid July. My true feeling in that this has been defeated twice and maybe Rumford does not want another ordinance.

Alice

I have had nothing to do with Roxbury. The citizens voted down a proposed ordinance that they felt was not fair to the industry. All we did was create another ordinance that still has protections for the Rumford citizens and allows regulated wind development. We did our job and the people of Rumford will have there say..

Rocco's picture

wind

We have created a fair ordinance that gives protection to the people of Rumford while allowing regulated wind development. This ordinance is stricter that the DEP standards and gives us local control. Please do not fall for the scare tactics of the antiwind crowd. There will be many benefits for the Town as a project materializes.

Ordinance

Fred, the ordinance should be available now at the Town Office. For anyone that wants to know, this ordinance is very fair. It has protections for the citizens of Rumford and allows regulated wind development. There is alot of misinformation out there. Please do not fall prey to all the scare tactics that will be used by the antiwind crowd.
Vote yes on 2..

Right Direction

I truely feel that last night we some strides for the taxpayers of Rumford. Although not the 1 mil decrease I was hoping for. Because of adopting last years figures the increases in each department will have to be adsorbed by structual changes. This meens and acual decrease of 5% over last year. You have to remember that each employee gets there health insurance paid 100%. The increase this year was 15% or $35,000.00. We pay over $500,000.00 for that benifit alone. We can't keep passing those kind of increases to the tax payers...

Mil Rate

The Rumford taxpayers should be aware that Carlos budget proposal is $360,000.00 more that last years budget. That will mean close to a 1 mil increase on your taxes. If you take into account the initiated articles and the RSU10 school budget we could be looking at a 2 to 4 mil increase. That is why I feel we should keep the budget the same as last year. Make your voice heard. Give your selectmen a call...
