I apologize for mis-speaking about this. I rode up there today and was pleased to see three town employees with two town vehicles and a riding mower busily cutting grass and all those nuisance popple sprouts that came up over the summer. As far as going back where I came from. I was born in Redington Memorial Hospital, Skowhegan in 1939. That should make me a Maine native don't it? My ancestors arrived in Maine 1718, albeit a bit south of here.
As far as a question for you, where is the old Sheet Stone Quarry located? I have old maps that show three separate locations for it.
First off, there are two cemeteries up on Science Hill. (Science Hill and Eddy)Second, both of these burying grounds were cleaned up, grave stones re-aligned, brush and trees removed, and a new perimeter fence built this past Fall and Spring. This work was done as an Eagle Scout project performed by a local teenager and neighborhood volunteers.
The Science Hill Cemetery is mostly moss covered and has virtually no grass to cut, Eddy cemetery is also not grassy.
Mr. Mitchell seems to have not been up there lately.
Title says it all. Would like to buy tickets.
