Would this mean that the government should not pay for children a woman (and a man) cannot afford to support/raise? I am all for that.

Changed my prospective some

This is by far the best explanation that I have read and it really puts the issue in prospective.. Thank you.

So sorry for the Morse's loss. Losing someone is very traumatic.

Mrs. Morse says that they let her off at the end of the access road. Is this not the same place that the EMS crew requested a police officer? It does make you wonder why they needed a police officer.

Urgent vs. Emergency

Agreed. Ambulances should not be used for non-emergencies, but there should be something in place for unplanned or urgent care trips to the doctor.

In my area, there is the Rides program with "volunteer" drivers who receive reimbursement for mileage.

Having a few people on payroll for these "non-emergencies" but, "urgent care" calls would be a lot less inexpensive than calling an ambulance.

With that being said, there is a lot of waste with people who are told to go to the Emergency Room for something as simple as an ear ache because their doctor cannot get them in.

It is expensive to go to the ER. The more rural areas do not have urgent care facilities. It would be nice if local dr. offices could take turns having urgent care days.

I had to chuckle when I read this. It's all true. We all live with such nuisances that irk us.

Then I have to think about what the date represents. 9/11. There are so many families out there that have lost people in their lives that created these petty aggravations.:-( Oh what they wouldn't give to have it all back.

Even though it sometimes it drives me insane. I would like to thank my family. I wouldn't have it any other way. :-)

How else would you expect the

How else would you expect the Governor to survey the damage? It is a mess up here in the Phillips/Carrabassett Valley area. I hear the Rumford area, too. People can not even get to work because some of the roads are not passable. Trapped. School starts this week and the busses will be unable to get the kids. What about supplies? Food? Fuel?
It usually takes a Governor's declaration to get help to those that need it.

Keep it all in the US if you want a tax break here.

I think that tax breaks should only be given to those corporations that have 90% of their workforce right here in the USA and their corporate office are physically located here.

Did anyone see this 60 minute story? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/03/25/60minutes/main20046867.shtml

I will fondly remember as a child what a kind and gentle man Frank was. When you work in a school with children, you just never know how many lives you have touched.

Frank was one of those people that touched my life.
My sympathy to his family.

RIP, Frank.

I couln't have said it better myself

The thought came to me before I even read your response. Why get married? It is indeed more profitable to let the state pay the bill for food, medical, childcare, etc.
