Mistake changed
That was my mistake, Joe, and I've updated it.
Dan:
That was an editing error. It's back in now.
Good catch
My bad, Stephen. It's fixed now.
Lewiston casino language exempts it from 100 mile rule
If voters approve the Lewiston casino group's application this November, they exempt it from the 100 mile rule.
Based on what the Lewiston group submitted to the Sec. of State, that 100 mile proximity limit does not apply to communities that:
1.) Have a population of at least 30,000; 2.) Have an option to purchase the site for their casino as of July 1, 2010; and 3:) Local voters approved that option. It also says the applicant has to propose operating the slot machine facility there and the site was not home to a slot facility before July 1, 2010.
Mayor says he was wrong
Mayor Gleason just issued a statement saying he was wrong to declare the vote invalid and the decision to demolish stands. I'm writing an update and we'll get it online as soon as we can.
