I cannot believe the treatment that Mrs. Manchester received. I work with the public everyday teens, adults, elderly people. They can all be hard to deal with, but I think that David needs a course in customer service. She is a customer she did pay for that plot to be maintained by the cemetery. If he does own his own business and is hired by the cemetery, I think he may see a decline in his business. Some people take advantage of the elderly and we all know that it occurs. The cemtery should not have allowed him to place the note. Mr . Ferland needs to grow up an act like an adult. I hope that someday this type of disrespect does not occur to him at a loved ones grave. I'm sure that he would complain about also. Shame on you David!!!!
I was arrested 30 years ago on obstruting government administration. I was intoxicated and could not keep my comments to myself. I was rude, disrespecful and deserved to end up in the back of that car.
You tend to do stupid things when you are inebriated. Own up to your stupidity pay the price and move on. If one of my children behaved the way the students behaved I would be embarressed. Bates security must have thought the situation was out of hand to call for back up.The police where doing their job.

Many years ago a friend of mine was beaten if front of one of the fraternity houses on College street for a comment that he made to someone in the fraternity house. He was beaten to the point were an ambulance and an overnight stay at the hospital was required. He was contacted by the dean of the school and asked to keep things quiet, because it was parents weekend and they didn't want any bad press. No one was held accountable for their actions that evening. It was almost like it had never happened. To tell me that this incident will be treated the same as any other disturbance in this town is a joke. I had to laugh when I saw that it was unclear as to what the charges would be. Are you kidding me!! I can think of a few. Disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, assault on a police officer,underage drinking, obstructing government administration, and I am sure that are more.
Why were the names of these student not published in the newspaper? If these kids had been Lewiston kids at a party, you can bet that their names would have been printed.
This is a good reason why some area residents have a problem with the school and the students. They believe that the rules do not pertain to them. They act and do whatever they want knowing that there will not be any consequences.
For area law enforcements agency to be called in shows that things were out of control. I would not want to be the one to have to break up an incident involving a group of intoxicated people. This is when injuries occur. They used the means that were required to bring the situation under control.

I think it is crazy for Mr Hood to have to give up his job to receive funding for the schoool. It is not the schools fault that 62% of the students do not speak English. How can they test well when they cannot read or understand the test itself. Teachers are not given enough credit for the time and work that they put into their classes.
How much money is spent by Longley School to supply them with English teachers to help students learn the language.Longley school is obviously overwhelmed with the amount of students that need extra support. Is there a summer program that could be attended to prepare them for the coming year?
I think that instead of blaming the school, that the city should be accepting a good part of the responsibilty. I was brought up in a French family and was taught English before I attended school. No one gave me special treatment in the school , everyone was treated equally.
It was a very sad day for Maine. I thought that people were more opened minded and wanted everyone treated equally. Many of the Catholics are hypocrates. They go to church and turn around and start gossiping before they are out the door. Supposedly attending church makes them a better person. Some should take a gool luck in the mirror and judge themselves instead of other people.
Marriage is described as a union between two people who love each other, promise to honor each other in sickness and in health, richer or poorer. This union is sacred, yet how many of these couples are divorced today. Maybe would should outlaw divorce since it is against the vows that were taken by this married couple.

Mr Reed did bring that up and Denis did say he would not excuse himself, he was determined to have his say as a councilor and not a citizen. Again he manipulate the rules to suit himself.
My children use to go to St. Joseph's school when they were young. We attended church weekly. When I had to start to explaining to them that there were different rules if your parents made large donations to the parish It was time for me to rethink about what I wanted them to learn. My daughter asked me once why people were saying awful things about someone when they were leaving church. I explained to her that because people attended church weekly did not make them a better person. We no longer attend church. I was raised a Catholic and went to Catholic school, but the church has changed, it is all about money!!!! I have taught my children to be good people, whether they are rich or poor everyone should be treated the same,better than some people that attend mass weekly and treat people terribly. If the churches are wondering why the attendance at catholic schools and churches has declined they need not look too far. I think of all the people that live day to day wondering where their next meal will come from, or where they will sleep and wonder why the Pope lives so extravaggantly.

I hope that Peters can find a legal way to let them form their committee without Gilbert's input. Some looked like they were napping(Theriault), others were busy reading what agenda was next(Reed), councilors interuppting as people tried to speak (Reed) and the mayor having a teasy when people from the audience clapped when they approved of what people had to say on the issue. I am counting the days for new elections to take place although I will miss the entertainment.
I did feel bad for the people who were there to renew their licences for their establishments. You have an agenda stick to it instead of jumping from one to the other, they could have been gone early in the evening insteaed they were there till 10pm. Also why don't they schedule these executive sessions at other times than meeting nights?

What a class act he is. After being embarrassed in front hundreds of people he has kept his head held high and has not made any negetive comments about the council members. We have lost a very dedicated and intelligent person. Thanks council members for giving as the shaft. Except for two councilors the other would not know class if it kick them in the butt!!! Mr Bennett's family should be very proud of his accomplishments and his integrity, what a fine example for his children.
As for the council members I think that most of this was for personal reasons, upcoming appointment of a vacant positions. I also believe that Mr Bennett was too intelligent for most of them. I think that they need to be reigned in , they have way too much control, it is no longer for the best interest of the residents, can't wait for elections to see all of you gone or at least most of you. The mayor should be the first to go along with Mr Theriault , what a control freak he is. Don't want to go in a new direction, they need to take a new direction , out the door!! Good Luck Mr Bennett!! Wherever you go they will have acquired and outstanding person, OUR LOST!!! Thanks again council members!!!!!
